Legends Prepare for Rawlings Cup Tournament
For the 3rd consecutive season, the Menlo Park Legends will be traveling down to San Luis Obispo to participate in the Rawlings Cup Tournament. This will also be the 3rd straight summer the Legends play in the Northern Division, which is held at Sinsheimer Stadium in San Luis Obispo. The Legends will also play a non-tournament game in Santa Maria as well.
The Legends will travel down Wednesday morning, and will begin their Rawlings Cup tournament play against the Santa Maria Valley Packers, with first pitch scheduled for 2pm. The Legends will be the visiting team for the game on Wednesday. The Bakersfield Sound and the San Luis Obispo Blues will play the other Rawlings Cup game Wednesday at 6pm.
The Rawlings Cup is actually taking July 4th off for the holiday, but the Legends aren’t. They will travel down to Santa Maria to take on the Santa Maria Reds. The game will be at Elks Field in Santa Maria, with first pitch scheduled for 1pm.
When the Rawlings Cup continues Friday, the Legends will get to be the home team against the Bakersfield Sound. First pitch is scheduled for 2pm. The other Rawlings Cup game, the Packers and the Blues, is scheduled for 6pm.
On Saturday, the Packers and the Sound will play at 12pm to conclude their Rawlings Cup schedule. Then, at 4pm, the Legends will take on the host San Luis Obispo Blues for the final game of the Northern Division of the Rawlings Cup.
If the Legends were to advance to the championship game of the Rawlings Cup, they would have a little bit of traveling to do. The Legends would have to travel down to Casear Uyesaka Stadium on the campus of UC-Santa Barbara. They would take on the winner of the Southern Division, with the scheduled first pitch being at 2pm. The four Southern Division teams are: Santa Barbara Foresters (host), Team Bercovich, MLB Academy, and the Conejo Oaks.
