The Legends Collegiate Team is Fired Up for Summer!
The summer is just weeks away and the 2016 Legends roster and schedule is looking more Legendary than ever. The 2016 summer schedule features 47 regular season competing every day of the summer except for Mondays. The Legends will once again play their home games at the scenic Cañada College baseball field. This season, the team will be making 4 overnight road trips playing road series versus the Santa Barbara Foresters, San Luis Obispo Blues, Healdsburg Prunepackers and the Humboldt Crabs. Legends Founder and General Manager David Klein will return for his 8th season as Head Coach of the Legends and will be supported by a legendary cast of coaches including former San Francisco Giant and 2 time world series Champion Pat Burrell as the hitting instructor. The infamous and beloved pitching coach, Wild Bill Ryan will be returning for his 5th summer working with the staff.
The roster is dominated by talented division 1 athletes from colleges such as Gonzaga, University of Houston, Baylor, New Mexico State, University of Texas at Arlington, George Mason, Saint Luis University, Santa Clara, Columbia and Texas A&M. The team will be having hitting and strength workouts all summer long at the brand new state of the art Foundry facility in Redwood City.
The Legends compete in the California Collegiate League (CCL) North Division with the Neptune Beach Pearl, Walnut Creek Crawdads, Pacific Union Financial Capitalists, along with new member the Healdsburg Prunepackers (coached by Joey Gomes, brother of Jonny Gomes). The 2016 CCL All Star game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports 1. The Legends are looking to be well represented again in the All Star game after Tommy Bell (New Mexico State) hit an extra inning 3 run walk off home run to win the 2015 CCL All Star game.
The Legends are still in the process of hiring high school, collegiate and post-college/entry level interns for this summer. We are also in need of 2 more host families for our out of state players.
