The Menlo Park Legacy took home three wins this past week against the Alameda Anchors, San Francisco Seals, and West Coast Kings Black, continuing to boost their BACL standing before heading into playoffs. They now have a two-game lead with a record of 13-4.

The week led off with a triumph against the Anchors 8-3 on Tuesday at the College of Alameda. The team amassed 11 hits in the game. Danelle Daniels’ sacrifice fly helped Legacy get on the board in the bottom of the first. Nick Thomson went 3-5 on the day and led with three runs batted in. Dom Najar collected two hits in his five at-bats with two RBIs. The Legacy continue to show their speed around the base paths, stealing 11 bases, multiple coming from Najar and Kieran Baker.

Ben Eisenhauer started things off on the mound for Menlo Park, surrendering just two hits and zero runs over five innings, with one walk and two strikeouts. Christian Klostermann and Archie Paul continued to support the bullpen, both coming in relief and shutting down Alameda.

On Wednesday, the Legacy rallied back to beat the Seals 8-7 at Cañada College. The team trailed by as many as four runs during the game, and didn’t take the lead until late in the game with the help of Thomson’s two-run home-run in the seventh and stolen bases by Jon Ringer, Tyler Wong, and Mateo Blandino.

Ryan Johnson stepped on the hill first for Menlo Park, allowing two hits and three runs over four innings, walking one and striking out two. Kai Price, Brandon Gatson, and Cole Dixon came in relief, each throwing shutout ball.

The Legacy’s third win of the week was a nail-biter against the Kings Black 12-10 on Saturday at home. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Menlo Park collected 10 hits and the West Coast Kings Black 11 in the high scoring game. Will Florio led the team with two hits in four at-bats, and Wong and Ethan Payne each drove in three runs. The lineup showed patience at the plate, tallying 13 walks on the day. Florio, Cooper Winton, Kyler Bittner, and Blake Cowans stole multiple of the 12 bases for the Legacy.

Jesus Munguia earned the win for the Menlo Park Legacy, giving up just three hits and one unearned run over five innings, walking one and striking out four.

The Legacy’s pitcher of the week was Sean DeBoard. He had a 2.25 era over four innings, striking out three and picking up one save. The hitter of the week was Thomson. He hit .417 with a 1.167 OPS, and racked up a home-run and five RBI’s.

Several players represented the Legacy at the BACL All-Star game, including Thomson, Bittner, Daniels, Wong, Cowans, and Ryan Farr.

Menlo Park now prepares for two home games before the start of playoffs. The team played earlier last night against the California Red Tails. They host the West Coast Kings Gold Thursday evening followed by the San Francisco Seals this Friday evening. The Legacy will then play away Saturday evening against the Healdsburg Prunepackers and on Sunday afternoon against the Solano Mudcats.
