This season the Legends are looking to crank it up a notch and bring home a conference championship. Focusing more on Division I talent, GM David Klein feels very confident in the club’s signings thus far. A big emphasis has been placed on pitching as last year’s bullpen backend struggled greatly with control, consistency and closing out games. Multiple signee’s come from the same university team, so Legends chemistry should be especially strong this season. Check them out!

Dylan Cook (INF/OF): Last year’s CCL North All Star is the only returning Legends player signed to date. Last season, Cook led Menlo Park in singles, RBI’s, and sacrifices. Consistently batting in the middle of the order, Cook was clutch in his plate appearances while swinging a huge 34” bat. With his ability to field almost every position he was started at first, third and left field during the season.  This spring Cook will be a junior at Georgia College (div. II) before heading out to Menlo Park to take home a CCL championship.

Ryan McSwain (OF): McSwain will be a freshman this spring at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock (div. I). A bay-area native, McSwain led St. Francis high school to a Central Coast Section championship in 2014 and was ranked in the top-500 prospects nationwide by Perfect Game. He led his team in home runs and stolen bases his senior year and will be looking to fine-tune his skills in Arkansas before joining the Legends in June.

Sean Thompson (RHP): Thompson is a hard throwing right-handed pitcher from Texas Tech (div. I). He only appeared in one game in 2014 but should get more looks this year as a sophomore. He prides himself on his poise, fortitude and confidence on the mound.

Matt Dezort (OF): Dezort is coming off a phenomenal sophomore season at Missouri State University (div. I) where he batted .318 in conference play. Described by his coaches as having lighting fast speed, Dezort recorded 15 putouts in the outfield last year and was a perfect 6-6 in stolen base attempts.

Kyle Barrett (INF): From San Carlos, California, Barrett will be playing in his first colligate season this year for the University of Arkansas, Little Rock (div. I). At Carlmont High School Barrett was a four-year varsity team starter, San Mateo County Freshman of the year, and three-time First Team All-League infielder. Barrett hit .446 his senior year with 15 doubles, 4 home runs, 27 RBI’s and 13 stolen bases.

Erik Amundson (RHP): Amundson will be a freshman this spring at the University of California, San Diego (div. II). At Menlo-Atherton High School, Erik dominated the competition from the mound. With an ERA of 2.33, 8 wins and 104 strikeouts, Amundson was named to the First Team All-Peninsula Athletic League his senior year. His coach at UCSD praises his command of his fastball and curve, which will only improve as he matures as a player.

Jackson Lancaster (LHP): The 6’5” 200 lbs. southpaw Jackson Lancaster will play his first season with Texas Tech (div. I) this spring. Originally from Midland, Texas, Lancaster will keep opposing team hitters on their toes with his lefty spin and hard-to-read pickoff move.

Brennan Hehner (RHP): The freshman at Lindenwood University (div. II) will be another right-handed pitcher for the Legends in 2015. Hehner’s approach spotlights a fastball reaching 84 mph and a changeup dropping as low as 68 mph.

Harrison Egly (RHP): Egly will be a freshman at Columbia University (div. I) in 2015. From Edina, Minnesota, Egly made Tri-Metro All Conference First Team in both baseball and basketball his senior year. In his last high school season he posted an ERA of 0.26 from the mound and batted .460 from shortstop.

Garrett Bruce (RHP): Bruce will be at Texas Tech (div. I) this spring for his first season with the Red Raiders after playing his first two years at Hill College. At Hill last season Bruce had 54 strikeouts in 68.2 innings pitched.

Jake Burger (INF): From Chesterfield, Missouri, Burger will be a freshman at Missouri State (div. I) this spring. Burger committed to Missouri State after a monster junior year of high school where he hit .437 with 9 doubles, 5 triples and 31 RBI’s. Jake hits for average and has a strong throwing arm across the diamond.

Anthony Lyons (OF): Yet another player from Texas Tech (div. I), Lyons will add more padding to the Legends outfield. Last spring, as a freshman, Lyons hit .286 with 8 RBI’s in the 33 games he appeared in. In high school Anthony earned First Team All-District, was named to the Texas High School Coaches Baseball Association All-Star team and was selected to play in the North Texas All-Star Game.

Thomas Triantos (LHP): Triantos is another young stud pitcher picked up by the Legends this offseason. Just starting his freshman year at Cal Poly SLO this fall, Triantos tallied up 50 strikeouts in just 52.2 innings pitched during his 2014 season at Livermore High School. With a fastball topping out at 90 mph and a curve that drops down to 72 mph Triantos will be trouble for opposing lineups all season.

Cameron Keysor (RHP): Keysor is a 6’1” 180 lbs. pitcher from Brigham Young University. In his freshman season he picked up 9 strikeouts in his 3 games started. Already receiving attention from Major League clubs, Keysor played on the Seattle Mariners Scout Team prior to attending BYU.

Troy Nelson (RHP): Nelson is a 6’2” 190 lbs. sophomore from Scottsdale, Arizona currently playing colligate ball for Trinity University (div. III). He appeared in 5 games during the 2013-2014 season and maintained a perfect 0.00 ERA.

Logan Spurlin (C): The Legends’ expect Spurlin to lead the power hitters in 2015 with his big right-handed bat. The junior from Chicago, Illinois started in 37 games his freshman year at Northern Kentucky (div. I) and led the team in home runs with 4. His sophomore year he hit .350 and matched his career high 4 home runs while driving in 32 RBI’s. Spurlin also has experience playing first base.

Tyler Tuepker (RHP): Hailing from Foristell, Missouri Tyler Tuepker joins the Legends’ pitching staff as another right-hander looking to contribute to the team’s success this summer. The 6’2” sophomore from Western Missouri State (div. III) appeared in 16 games last spring for the Griffons and posted an ERA of 6.06 with 20 strikeouts. At Wright City High School Tuepker was selected to the First Team All-Eastern Missouri Conference and First Team All-District.

Michael Clark (RHP): Only a senior in high school, this 6’0” 185 lbs. right-hander from Santa Rosa has grabbed the attention of scouts all over the nation. As a junior, Clark committed to play his colligate ball with the surging Cal Poly SLO Mustangs (div. I). Last season he earned first-team All-North Bay League honors while boasting an ERA of 1.18 and punching out 27 across 35 2/3 innings.

Brian Hsu (INF): Hsu will be a sophomore this season at BYU after red-shirting his freshman year. A big middle infielder (6’2” 185 lbs.), Hsu is predicted to be the Cougars’ starting shortstop by coach Mike Littlewood. In high school, Hsu hit .316 over his three Varsity seasons with a home run and 36 RBI’s.

Stay tuned for more signings!
